| Applesauce will vary in texture and flavor depending on the variety of apple used. We use Fuji or Gala apples.
Ingredients:
8 large apples, peeled, cored and cut into thick slices
1/2 cup water
2 lemon slices
1/2 cup honey
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Combine apples, water and lemon slices in a large saucepan. Simmer, uncovered for 10 minutes or until apples are soft. Add apples to food processor or blender and add nutmeg, cinnamon, and honey (to desired taste) blend to get a smooth texture. Sometimes, I am sneaky and I blend in a bit of broccoli or chicken.
